How to contact Airbnb support by phone, chat, or email
Airbnb has won countless awards for excellence and innovation in recent years. It has become a global force to be reckoned with – providing property owners with an awesome way to earn a passive income and travellers with a great way to connect with locals while saving cash as they explore the world. But the downside of being such a huge company is that if you ever run into problems as a user of the platform, it can be difficult to get in touch with a human being to help you.
If you’ve ever been locked out of your Airbnb account or had issues being sent a security SMS when you change SIMS abroad, you’ll know that there’s no 24-hour Helpline you can call to chat to a friendly Airbnb worker. In fact, it is difficult to even find an email address on their website.
We are often contacted by hosts wanting to know the best way to contact Airbnb so we thought we’d put together some information to make your life easier the next time you need to reach the Airbnb team.
How to contact Airbnb by email
First of all, you need to know that if you go into the Help section on the official Airbnb website in order to contact them about an issue, you are entering a holiday rental maze and there’s no guarantee you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Airbnb’s website asks you to select a range of options when you seek help. For example, if you select My Airbnb Account, you’ll then be asked to choose one of 11 options. Some of those options ask you to choose from a further list. Sometimes those options will give you a direct email address relating to the issue. For example, if you click on ‘Suspicious Link’ as one of the options, you are given an email address to send information to.
In other cases, after clicking through a range of options, you’ll be directed to general information on the Airbnb website which can lead to lots of frustration when ultimately you really just want to call a human being and lodge an issue.
How to contact Airbnb by phone
Airbnb prefers that both travellers and hosts use the website to find all the information needed to resolve disputes and problems. But sometimes, you can’t find what you’re looking for or, in the odd case, your issue goes beyond anything listed on the website. What should you do?
The company’s customer service head office is in the United States. There are two Airbnb phone numbers you can call to talk to someone from the company:
Airbnb’s USA phone numbers:
1-855-424-7262
1-415-800-5959
There is also a UK-based number that you can call if you’re based in that part of the world.
Airbnb’s UK phone number: 02033 181 111
Do note, though, that waiting times for both numbers tend to be very long.
Logging into your account to access help
As a host or traveller, you can also log into your Airbnb account and click Help to access a range of information relating to issues you might be experiencing. This way you can contact Airbnb about a specific booking rather than going through all the general enquiries tabs on their main website.
Using social media to get attention
We know of many folks who, when feeling frustrated by their inability to talk to a human being from Airbnb about their issue, have resorted to either Tweeting about the company to get some attention or private messaging the company’s various accounts such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Often you can get a speedier response going through social media than waiting for an email or sitting on hold on the telephone.
Best case scenario: Make sure you never need to contact Airbnb
Many first-time hosts will sign up to Airbnb without really understanding how the holiday rental platform works. It’s not just about uploading photos and getting paid when people come to stay with you. There are legal issues you need to understand – and as a host you should educate yourself on how you can protect your property against damage by guests. The more prepared you are as a host, the less likely it will be that you will need to contact Airbnb. Make sure you fully understand how Airbnb works before you commit to anything.
Disputes with guests are the main reason hosts contact Airbnb. Rather than wait for something unfortunate to happen, why not do your best to make their stay an extraordinary one? There are many things you can do to meet the needs of a demanding guest. By becoming a great host, you are less likely to run into issues and that means you won’t have to spend time searching for answers to problems on the Airbnb website.
